Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This mandatory safety order requires owners/operators of certain Piper PA-42 Cheyenne III/IIIA aircraft (specific serials per Piper Service Bulletin 969) to perform dye-penetrant inspections of the main landing gear upper housing—focusing on the lower side brace link lugs—at intervals set in that Service Bulletin. It’s intended to detect small corner cracks that could lead to gear failure. Installing a new housing, P/N 57680-09, cancels the inspection requirement.
