Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

Owners/operators of Piper PA‑42‑1000 Cheyenne 400/400LS aircraft (SN 42‑5527001 and up) must follow a mandatory safety directive requiring manufacturer‑prescribed reinforcement/modification of the main landing gear upper strut housing and recurring inspections once strut housings exceed 450 flight hours.

This action, carried out per Piper Service Bulletins, is intended to detect and fix cracks that could lead to landing‑gear collapse on landing, preventing possible accident or serious injury.

Action in accordance with Piper Mandatory SB No 929.

Note: New replacement housings require action only upon accumulating 450 hours time in service.
