AD/PA-38/20 - Radio Support Installation - CANCELLED

This document cancels a previous aircraft safety rule for Piper PA-38 Tomahawk aeroplanes.

What it does:

• Officially revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/PA-38/20 as of 18 December 2008
• Removes a legal obligation that had been in place since 1982

What the cancelled rule required:

• Owners had to replace standard nuts with self-locking nuts in radio support installations
• The work had to be done within 25 hours of flying time after September 1982
• This was based on a manufacturer service bulletin (Piper SB No. 748)

Why it matters: Owners and maintenance engineers no longer need to ensure this specific nut replacement has been performed on these aircraft. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority decided the safety measure was no longer necessary after more than 26 years in force.
