AD/PA-34/31 - Stabilator Skin - Inspection - CANCELLED

This document officially cancels a previous aviation safety rule (an Airworthiness Directive) that required owners of Piper PA-34 Seneca aircraft to inspect the stabilator skin for cracks.

Who it affects:

• Owners and operators of Piper PA-34 Seneca aeroplanes
• Licensed aircraft maintenance engineers servicing these aircraft

What changes:

• The previous requirement for a one-time inspection of the stabilator skin (the movable tail surface that controls the aircraft's up and down movement) within 25 flying hours after June 1979 is now abolished
• This inspection was originally mandated as a precaution following an accident in Australia, but is no longer considered necessary

When it takes effect:

• The cancellation applies from 23 October 2008

Why it matters: If you operate this aircraft type, you are no longer legally required to complete this specific structural inspection to comply with Australian aviation safety regulations.
