AD/PA-32/58 - Glove Compartment - Modification - CANCELLED

What this is: This document officially cancels a previous aviation safety rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/PA-32/58) that applied to owners of Piper PA-32 Cherokee Six aircraft.

What the old rule required: The original directive mandated that owners modify the aircraft's glove compartment (the storage compartment in the dashboard) in accordance with Piper Service Bulletin No. 412. This modification had to be completed within 100 hours of flying time after October 1978.

What this means now: As of 25 September 2008, aircraft owners no longer need to make this modification. The safety requirement has been completely removed, likely because it became redundant, was superseded by newer standards, or the safety risk no longer exists.
