Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This rule requires owners and operators of Piper PA-32 (Cherokee Six) aeroplanes to inspect a specific part—the rudder trim arm assembly—for cracks near where it attaches to the rudder pedal bar.

Who it affects: Anyone who owns or operates these specific light aircraft models.

What you must do: Check the rudder trim arm assembly for cracking to prevent mechanical failure.

When:

First inspection: Within 100 hours of flying time after 29 September 1969.
Repeat inspections: Every time the aircraft receives a new Maintenance Release (a safety certificate required for the plane to fly).

Why it matters: Cracks in this assembly could cause loss of rudder control, creating a serious flight safety risk. This update adjusts the inspection schedule to match different maintenance cycles used by aircraft owners.
