Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This is an Airworthiness Directive (AD) — a mandatory safety order issued under aviation law. It requires owners and operators of Piper PA-32 Cherokee Six aeroplanes to inspect the bolts that attach the rear wing spar (the main structural beam of the wing) to the aircraft body.

Who it affects: Anyone operating a Piper PA-32 series aircraft in Australia.

What must be done: Within 100 hours of flying time after 25 January 1968, operators must complete the inspection following the exact procedures in Piper Service Bulletin No. 261 (a technical notice from the aircraft manufacturer).

Why it matters: The rear spar attach bolts are critical to keeping the wings attached to the fuselage. This directive mandates a one-time inspection to detect any wear, looseness, or damage that could lead to structural failure in flight.
