AD/PA-31/99 Amdt 1 - Elevator Control Tube - CANCELLED

What this is: This document officially cancels an old aviation safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive or AD) that applied to Piper PA-31 series aircraft.

What it means:

• The previous rule (AD/PA-31/99) required owners to inspect and modify the elevator control tube (a part of the plane's steering mechanism) according to a specific Piper service bulletin (SB 715A).
• That work had to be done within 100 hours of flying time after July 1983.
• Because that deadline passed more than 25 years ago, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) assumes all affected planes have long since been fixed.
• As of 31 July 2008, this rule is dead. Owners of these aircraft no longer need to comply with this specific directive (though other maintenance rules still apply).
