This instrument cancels an obsolete aviation safety rule that previously required owners of Piper PA-31 series aircraft to modify the hinge brackets on their plane's rudder tabs.

What the original rule required The previous directive mandated a one-time modification of rudder tab hinge brackets according to manufacturer specifications (Piper Service Letter No. 512). Aircraft operators had to complete this work within 100 hours of flight time after February 1969.
