AD/PA-31/49 - Elevator Hinge System - Modification - CANCELLED

This document cancels an outdated aviation safety rule for Piper PA-31 Navajo aircraft.

What was cancelled: An earlier directive required a one-time mechanical modification to the elevator hinge system (the pivot points connecting the horizontal tail control surfaces to the aircraft). Owners had to complete this work in accordance with Piper Service Bulletin No. 504 within 100 flight hours after August 1976.

Why it matters: Because the compliance deadline passed more than 30 years ago, every affected aircraft would already have undergone this modification. This cancellation simply removes the obsolete requirement from the aviation safety regulations. No action is required by current aircraft owners or operators.
