AD/PA-31/28 - Control Attachment Ball Joints - Inspection - CANCELLED

What this is: This document officially cancels an old aviation safety rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/PA-31/28) that required owners of Piper PA-31 aircraft to inspect their control attachment ball joints.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Piper PA-31 series aeroplanes (Navajo models), though in practice, no current action is required.

Why it matters: The original rule required a one-time inspection of flight control ball joints according to manufacturer guidelines (Piper Service Bulletin 407). The deadline was 100 flight hours after December 1973. By 2008, every affected aircraft had already completed this inspection decades ago, making the rule obsolete.

Current status: As of 31 July 2008, this requirement is formally cancelled. Aircraft owners no longer need to track or comply with this directive.
