Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This directive orders owners and operators of specific Piper PA-31 aircraft to replace the existing cockpit placard (a safety instruction label) that explains how to manually extend the landing gear during an emergency. The replacement must follow the instructions in Piper Service Bulletin No. 344.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of these specific aircraft:

Piper PA-31 and PA-31-300 models with serial numbers 31-2 to 31-751, 31-753, and 31-754
Piper PA-31P models with serial numbers 31P-1 to 31P-53

Why it matters: Incorrect or unclear emergency procedures for landing gear extension could delay a pilot's response during an in-flight emergency, potentially leading to a gear-up landing. This ensures pilots have accurate, visible instructions when hydraulic or electrical systems fail.
