AD/PA-31/14 - Battery Drain - Relocation - CANCELLED

This document cancels a previous aircraft safety rule that applied to Piper PA-31 series aeroplanes.

Background: The original rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/PA-31/14) required a once-only relocation of the battery drain line to comply with Piper Service Bulletin No. 325. This modification had to be completed within 100 hours of flight time after December 1970.

Why it matters now: The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has cancelled this directive because all affected aircraft in Australia have already been modified. The safety issue has been resolved fleet-wide, making the mandatory requirement obsolete.

What this means:

• Effective date: 31 July 2008
• Action required: None — this simply removes a completed requirement from the books
• Legal effect: The previous directive is no longer enforceable (though the physical modifications remain on the aircraft)
