AD/PA-31/125 - Electrical Wiring and Fuel Line Chafing - CANCELLED

This document cancels a previous aviation safety rule that required owners of Piper PA-31 series aircraft (including Navajo and Chieftain models) to conduct a one-time safety inspection.

What the original rule required: The previous directive mandated a check for chafing (wear caused by rubbing) on electrical wires located in the wing leading edges and behind the firewalls. Aircraft owners had to complete this inspection by February 1995.

Why it is being cancelled: The Civil Aviation Safety Authority cancelled this rule effective 31 July 2008 because all affected aircraft have now undergone the required inspection. Since the safety check has been completed across the entire fleet, the mandatory requirement is no longer necessary.

Who this affects: Owners and operators of Piper PA-31 series aircraft no longer need to comply with this specific inspection requirement.
