Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This airworthiness directive requires owners/operators of Piper PA‑31P (s/n 31P‑3 through 31P‑7730012) with 1,000+ hours to perform inspections per Piper Service Bulletin No. 802 for cracking in the aft fuselage bulkhead. Inspections must start within 25 hours after 9 Jan 1985 and repeat every 200 hours until a reinforcement kit (P/N 764‑983) or reinforced replacement bulkhead (P/N 45583‑16) is installed.

Operators bear inspection and repair costs; installing the kit or replacement terminates the recurring inspection requirement.
