AD/PA-31/104 - Elevator Outboard Hinge Installation - CANCELLED

This document formally scraps an old aircraft safety rule that required owners of Piper PA-31 series aeroplanes to modify the elevator outboard hinge (the hinge connecting the tail flap to the aircraft body).

What it is: An Airworthiness Directive (a mandatory safety notice issued by the aviation regulator) cancellation.

What the original rule did: Decades earlier, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority mandated a one-time mechanical fix to prevent the elevator hinge from failing. All affected aircraft had to complete this work by 30 June 1982.

Why it matters now: Because every plane covered by this rule was modified over 25 years ago, the requirement is obsolete. This document simply removes the redundant rule from the books effective 31 July 2008, cleaning up the regulatory register.
