Plain English Summary

4/10 complexity

This AD requires owners/operators of Piper PA-30 and PA-39 Twin Comanche aircraft with Stewart‑Warner "Southwind" 940‑series cabin heaters to verify the exhaust extension material and either replace corrodible mild‑steel parts with stainless steel or follow a mandated inspection/overhaul regime.

It’s intended to prevent corrosion‑related cracks or leaks that could introduce carbon monoxide or cause fires, so affected operators must inspect, monitor, or overhaul heaters per the AD to ensure cabin safety.
