AD/PA-30/11 Amdt 1 - Alternator Field Fuse - Installation - CANCELLED

What this is: A cancellation of a previous aviation safety rule for specific light twin-engine aircraft.

What it used to require: The original directive (AD/PA-30/11) forced owners of Piper PA-30 and PA-39 Twin Comanche aeroplanes to install a 3-amp fuse in each alternator field circuit. This only applied to aircraft fitted with a voltage regulator selector switch, and had to be done immediately ("forthwith").

What it says now: This rule is cancelled. As of 18 December 2008, the fuse installation requirement no longer applies. Owners and operators of these aircraft do not need to install these fuses to comply with this directive.

Why it matters: If you own one of these aircraft, you are no longer legally required to perform this specific modification, though you should ensure your aircraft meets other applicable safety standards.
