AD/PA-28/53 - Pre-Certification Requirements - Modification - CANCELLED

This document officially cancels a previous aviation safety rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/PA-28/53) that applied to Piper PA-28 aircraft.

What the cancelled rule required:

• Display of a 'no smoking' placard inside the aircraft
• Installation and identification of fuelling equipment bond points (grounding points for static electricity)

Why it was cancelled: The rule relied on another regulation (ANO 101.22) which has also been cancelled. Without that underlying rule, these specific requirements are no longer necessary or appropriate.

What this means: As of 13 March 2008, owners and operators of Piper PA-28 series aircraft no longer need to comply with these specific requirements. The aircraft can operate without these particular modifications, though other airworthiness requirements still apply.
