Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This safety directive (called an Airworthiness Directive) requires owners of Piper PA-28 aircraft to check and fix the foot pedals that control the rudder (the "rudder bar assembly").

Who it affects: Owners and operators of all Piper PA-28 and PA-28R model aeroplanes.

What you must do:

Inspect: Check the rudder bar assembly within 100 hours of flight time after the effective date, and then re-check it every 100 hours of flying time until the modification is completed.
Modify: Update the rudder bar assembly according to the manufacturer's instructions (Piper Service Letter No. 671) no later than the aircraft's first major inspection after the effective date.

Why it matters: This prevents potential failure of the rudder foot controls, which are essential for steering the aircraft safely on the ground and in the air.
