AD/PA-28/32 - Pitch Trim Switch - Modification - CANCELLED

What this does: This document formally cancels an old aviation safety rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/PA-28/32) that required owners of Piper PA-28 aircraft (Cherokee, Warrior, and Archer models) to modify the electric trim switch on the control wheel.

Why it matters: The original rule was issued in the early 1970s to fix a potentially unsafe condition with the pitch trim switches. The deadline to comply was 200 flight hours after July 1971. Because that was nearly 40 years ago, every affected aircraft has long since been modified or retired from service. By formally cancelling the directive, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is cleaning up the rulebook to remove outdated requirements that are no longer relevant.

Who it affects: Aircraft owners and maintenance engineers who work on Piper PA-28 series aeroplanes. In practice, nobody needs to take any action—the cancellation simply recognises that the safety issue resolved itself decades ago.
