AD/PA-28/30 - Engine Mount Tubes - Inspection - CANCELLED

This document officially cancels a 37-year-old aviation safety rule that required owners of Piper PA-28 aircraft to regularly inspect their engine mount tubes for cracks.

What it does:

• Revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/PA-28/30 effective 3 July 2008
• Removes the legal requirement for periodic inspections specified in the original 1971 directive

Who it affects:

• Owners and operators of Piper PA-28 series aeroplanes (though the mandatory obligation no longer exists)

Why it matters: The original rule was created because engine mount tubes on these aircraft could develop dangerous cracks. After nearly four decades, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority determined that every affected aircraft has already been inspected and repaired or modified as needed. Since the safety risk has been resolved across the entire fleet, the mandatory inspection requirement is no longer necessary and is being cancelled to reduce unnecessary regulatory burden.
