What you must do Inspect the metal tubes that hold the engine to the airframe:

First inspection within 100 flight hours after 31 March 1971
Repeat inspections every 100 flight hours after that
Keep inspecting until the aircraft is repaired or modified according to Piper Service Letter No. 568

Why it matters Cracked or damaged engine mounts can cause the engine to separate from the aircraft in flight. This rule ensures potential cracks are found before they become catastrophic.

AD/PA-28/30 Engine Mount Tubes - Inspection 3/71

Applicability: Model PA-28R-180 with S/Nos. 28R-30004 to 28R-31265 and Model PA-28R-200 with S/Nos. 28R-35001 to 28R-35659 except those with engine mounts S/Nos. S51 and subsequent.

Document: Piper SL No. 568.

Compliance: Within 100 hours time in service after 31 March 1971 and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 100 hours time in service until repaired or modified in accordance with SL 568.
