AD/PA-25/8 - Improved Protection from Crash Fires - CANCELLED

What this does: This document officially scraps a previous safety rule that required owners of Piper PA-25 Pawnee aircraft (agricultural planes) to install special protection against fires if the plane crashes.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Piper PA-25 Pawnee series aeroplanes.

Why it matters: The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has decided this old fire-protection rule is no longer necessary. The original rule required compliance by September 1971, but now that deadline—and the requirement itself—is wiped out. If you own one of these planes, you no longer need to perform the modifications that were previously mandated.

In short: A decades-old fire safety upgrade requirement for these specific aircraft has been permanently cancelled.
