AD/PA-25/4 - Front Spar Attachment Fittings - Modification - CANCELLED

What this does: This document officially cancels a previous aircraft safety rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/PA-25/4) that required structural modifications to Piper PA-25 Pawnee aeroplanes.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Piper PA-25 Pawnee aircraft — primarily used for agricultural spraying and towing gliders.

What the old rule required: The original 1971 directive mandated installation of steel front spar fittings and hinge bolts to prevent wing attachment failures. Compliance was required before September 1971.

What changed: As of 20 November 2008, this safety modification is no longer legally required in Australia. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority has determined the directive is unnecessary and cancelled it entirely.
