This airworthiness directive requires radiographic inspection of specific fuselage tubes on all Piper PA‑25 (Pawnee) series aeroplanes to detect internal corrosion. It names the tube numbers for standard PA‑25 and for PA‑25‑235/260 variants, and specifies an approved radiographic technique. Inspections must occur within five years of manufacture (or of repair for some tubes) and, for one group of tubes, repeat at intervals not exceeding six years. Owners/operators must arrange and pay for the inspections and aircraft downtime.
