Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of Piper PA‑25/PA‑25‑235 Pawnee aircraft (unless already fitted with two retaining bolts or modified under an approved alternative) to replace the two bolts retaining the tail‑wheel spring assembly with new bolts of the same specification on a recurring 35‑flight‑hour interval (from 1 Sept 1971). It’s intended to prevent tail‑wheel detachment and loss of control during landing/taxiing, especially from rough fields.
