What this document does

This document officially cancels a previous aviation safety rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/PA-23/83) that applied to Piper PA-23 Apache and Aztec aircraft.

What it used to require

Previously, owners of these aircraft had to modify the drain on the heater fuel regulator valve shroud (part of the cabin heating system) according to manufacturer instructions (Piper Service Bulletin No. 721). This modification had to be completed within 100 hours of flying time after July 1982.

What happens now

As of 12 February 2009, aircraft owners and operators no longer need to comply with this specific modification requirement. The safety directive is no longer in force.
