AD/PA-23/67 - Throttle Control Shaft - CANCELLED

This document cancels (revokes) a previous aviation safety rule that applied to owners and operators of Piper PA-23 Apache and Aztec aircraft.

Background: The original directive (issued in 1975) was an Airworthiness Directive (a mandatory safety notice from the aviation regulator). It required inspection or repair of the throttle control shaft within 100 flight hours, following the aircraft manufacturer's Service Bulletin No. 451.

What this document does: It officially cancels that safety requirement as of 12 February 2009. Owners and operators of these aircraft are no longer required to perform this specific inspection or maintenance.

Why it matters: It removes an outdated compliance burden. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority determined the safety action is no longer necessary—likely because the affected fleet has been sufficiently modified, retired, or the original safety risk has been mitigated through other means.
