Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This directive requires owners of specific Piper Apache and Aztec aircraft to install a warning label (called a "placard") in the cockpit.

Who it affects: Only applies to specific Piper PA-23-250 aircraft with serial numbers 27-4053, 27-4574 through 27-7405278, and only if they are fitted with Altimatic V Flight Director equipment.

What must be done: Install a caution placard regarding the Flight Director or Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS) Flux Sensor, following the instructions in Piper Service Bulletin No. 404.

When: The work had to be completed within 200 hours of flight time after 31 July 1974.

Why it matters: This ensures pilots are visually warned about potential limitations or operational issues with the aircraft's automatic flight control systems, preventing possible navigation or control errors during flight.
