AD/PA-23/42 Amdt 1 - Alternator Field Fuse - Installation - CANCELLED

What this is This document cancels an old aircraft safety rule. It scraps Airworthiness Directive AD/PA-23/42, which previously required owners of Piper Apache and Aztec aeroplanes to install specific fuses in their alternator circuits.

Who it affects Owners and operators of Piper PA-23 (Apache and Aztec) series aircraft.

What changed As of 12 February 2009, the requirement to install a 3-amp fuse in each alternator field circuit (for aircraft with a voltage regulator selector switch) is dead and buried. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) decided this 1979 safety rule is no longer necessary.

Why it matters If you maintain one of these aircraft, you can strike this specific fuse installation off your compliance checklist. It removes a technical burden for operators of these older aircraft models.
