AD/PA-23/41 - Auxiliary Front Spar - Inspection - CANCELLED

What this is: This document officially cancels a previous aviation safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive) for specific Piper aircraft models.

Who is affected: Owners and operators of Piper PA-23 Apache and Aztec series aeroplanes.

What the old rule required: The original directive required a one-time inspection for cracks in the auxiliary front spar (a structural component in the wing, part number 16010) within 50 hours of flying time after January 1971.

What happens now: As of 12 February 2009, this inspection is no longer required. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has determined the safety risk is no longer present, so the mandatory inspection is cancelled.

Why it matters: Aircraft owners and maintenance providers no longer need to perform, document, or comply with this specific structural inspection, removing a regulatory burden for operators of these older aircraft.
