Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive (AD) is a mandatory safety notice requiring owners of specific Piper PA-23-250 Aztec aircraft to inspect the rear fuselage for structural integrity.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Piper Aztec aircraft with the specific serial numbers listed (including 27-3837, 27-3944 through 27-4005, and others). If your aircraft's serial number isn't on this list, this directive doesn't apply to you.

What you must do: Within 100 hours of flight time (counted from 25 November 1969), you must complete an inspection of the rear fuselage following the procedures set out in Piper Service Bulletin No. 296.

Why it matters: This directive addresses specific safety concerns about potential structural failures in the rear fuselage. Airworthiness Directives are legally binding under the Civil Aviation Regulations. Flying without completing this inspection (or exceeding the 100-hour limit) violates aviation law and compromises safety.
