This Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of early-model Piper PA-23 Apache and Aztec aircraft (serials before 23‑56) to replace main landing gear forgings and wheels forthwith, following Piper Service Bulletin No. 128.

It addresses fatigue and corrosion that can lead to landing-gear collapse during takeoff or landing, posing serious safety risks to occupants and people on the ground.
