AD/PA-22/34 - Shimmy Damper - CANCELLED

What this does: This document cancels a previous safety rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/PA-22/34) that applied to Piper PA-22 Tri-Pacer and Colt aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of these specific light aircraft.

What the old rule required: The original directive required a one-time replacement of the original model shimmy damper — a part that prevents the nose wheel from shaking or vibrating during takeoff or landing — in accordance with a manufacturer service bulletin (Piper SB No. 324).

Why it matters: The manufacturer issued that service bulletin back in 1989. By 2008, all affected aircraft would have already had the work done, so the safety rule is no longer needed and is formally cancelled as of 3 July 2008. This removes an obsolete compliance burden from aircraft owners.
