What this is: An Airworthiness Directive (a mandatory safety notice) issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority under the Civil Aviation Regulations.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Piper PA-22 (Tri-Pacer and Colt) series aeroplanes — but only if you have replaced a wing fuel tank cap with either:

Part number 15926-02 since 1 June 1976; or
Part number 60707-02 that was modified according to Piper Service Bulletin No. 522.

What you must do: Modify the wing fuel tank cap following the exact instructions in Piper Service Bulletin No. 573.

When you must do it: Within 100 hours of flying time after 31 May 1978.

Why it matters: This is a legal requirement. If you don't make this modification, your aircraft is not considered airworthy and cannot legally fly in Australian airspace.
