Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive mandates a safety inspection for owners and operators of Piper PA-22 Tri-Pacer and Colt aircraft.

What you must do:

Inspect the flexible fuel hose running from the fuel strainer to the carburettor (the device mixing fuel and air for the engine), following the procedures in Piper Service Bulletin No. 351.
Replace any hose assembly with part number 70322-32, or any hose that cannot be identified, with hose assembly part number 17766-66.

Deadline: Complete the work within 100 hours of flight time after 30 November 1972, or before 1 July 1973, whichever comes first.

Why this matters: Faulty fuel hoses can leak or fail, creating fire hazards and engine failure risks. This directive ensures potentially defective hoses are identified and replaced with approved, airworthy parts.
