Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This is a mandatory safety instruction (an Airworthiness Directive) issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority for aircraft owners and mechanics.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Piper PA-22 Tri-Pacer and Colt aeroplanes fitted with Scott brake master cylinders (part number B711).

What you must do: Replace the rubber diaphragm in the brake master cylinder with a new one (specifically Scott part B1751 or Piper part 750 384).

When: At least once every 200 hours of flight time (called 'time in service').

Why it matters: This prevents brake failure caused by worn or degraded rubber diaphragms, ensuring the aircraft can stop safely.
