Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This directive affects owners/operators of Piper PA‑20 Pacers (serials 20‑01 to 20‑1121). Corrosion has been found between steel tubes and pre‑formed sections in door frames, windshield and baggage areas, which can weaken the structure and endanger airworthiness.

You must either carry out the permanent repair specified in Piper Service Bulletin No. 819 or arrange Secretary‑approved radiographic inspections (Gippsland’s ANTDS.86.4 is acceptable). Actions were required by 30 Nov 1986; inspections recur no more than every three years.
