AD/PA-20/10 - Front Seat Restraint Installations - Modifications - CANCELLED

This document cancels a 1971 safety rule that required shoulder harnesses (upper torso restraints) to be installed in the front seats of Piper PA-20 Pacer aircraft certified before 1967.

What is happening?

• The old rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/PA-20/10) is cancelled effective 17 January 2008.
• The safety requirement hasn't disappeared—it has been moved to a different rule (AD/GENERAL/74 Amendment 1) that covers multiple aircraft types, not just the Piper Pacer.

Who does this affect? Owners and operators of Piper PA-20 (Pacer) series aircraft.

Why does this matter? This is housekeeping by the aviation regulator (CASA). Instead of having separate paperwork for each aircraft model, similar safety requirements are being consolidated into one general directive. If you own one of these planes, you must still comply with the shoulder harness requirements, but you'll now find them in the general directive rather than this model-specific one.
