AD/PA-18/10 - Wing Fuel Tank Cap - Modification - CANCELLED

This document officially cancels a previous aircraft safety rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/PA-18/10) that applied to Piper PA-18 and PA-19 Super Cub aeroplanes.

What the old rule required Previously, owners had to modify the wing fuel tank caps once, following a 1978 manufacturer service bulletin (Piper SB No. 351). This addressed a safety issue identified in a US airworthiness directive from 1978.

What this document does It cancels that modification requirement completely. The cancellation took effect on 5 June 2008.

Why it matters Because the original safety documents date back to 1978—30 years prior—the unsafe condition they addressed no longer exists in the aircraft fleet. This removes an outdated maintenance burden for owners and operators of these aircraft.
