Plain English Summary

5/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires operators of Partenavia P68 family aeroplanes to inspect and, where required, modify flight‑control cables using specified Partenavia service bulletins and a service instruction. It applies to all P68 models and sets recurring inspections at intervals not exceeding 100 flight hours unless the aircraft is fully modified to the manufacturer’s specifications.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority enforces the rule; operators bear the inspection and modification costs. The Directive consolidates and replaces earlier Australian ADs and adopts the requirements of the corresponding Italian AD.

b. Service Bulletin 75 Rev. 3 dated 13 May 1996,

c. Service Bulletin 95 dated 15 May 1996,

Compliance: At the next inspection after 27 February 1997, that would have been due in accordance with AD/P68/23 Amdt 2 or AD/P68/30 Amdt 1, whichever occurs first. Thereafter at intervals not exceeding 100 hours time in service, unless fully modified in accordance with specifications of the Requirement Documents.

If fully modified, in accordance with the schedules specified in the appropriate Requirement Document.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 27 February 1997.

Background: This Directive is issued to reflect the current Italian AD which includes the requirements from the superseded Australian ADs and provides for relieving action with the Service Bulletins. The original Australian Directives were issued because of the configurations within the P68 control systems that lead to shorter cable lives than would normally be expected.
