Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This is an Airworthiness Directive (a mandatory safety order) requiring aircraft operators to inspect and modify specific models of Eros emergency oxygen masks.

Who it affects: Anyone operating aircraft fitted with Eros "quick donning" (fast-to-wear) oxygen masks from the MA 10, MB 10, or MC 10 series with serial numbers below 19108.

The requirements:

By 1 March 1992: Inspect the masks following the manufacturer's Service Bulletin MA/B/C10-35-42 (Revision 1)
By 31 December 1992: Modify the masks following Service Bulletin MA/B/C10-35-29 (Revision 2)

Why it matters: These masks supply oxygen to crew and passengers if the aircraft loses cabin pressure at high altitude. This directive prevents mask failure during an emergency, which could lead to hypoxia (lack of oxygen) and incapacitation.
