Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This airworthiness directive orders operators to inspect for Air Liquide smoke hoods (type 15‑40 F) with the listed lot numbers and remove them from service if found, and bans those hoods from being fitted to any aircraft. It affects aircraft operators and maintenance organisations that hold those hoods. The directive says the visors can become opaque minutes after the package is opened, creating a safety risk; removal was required by 16 July 1998 (effective 29 January 1998).
