AD/NAV/3 - Front Seat Restraint Installations - Modification - CANCELLED

This instrument cancels an old aircraft safety rule that required shoulder harnesses in Navion series aeroplanes.

What it does:

• Cancels Airworthiness Directive (AD) N/NAV/3, originally issued in 1972
• Removes the requirement for owners to install upper torso restraints (shoulder harnesses) in front seats of Navion aircraft certified before 1967
• Consolidates compliance under a general rule (AD/GENERAL/74 Amendment 1) that now applies to all aircraft types, rather than having a separate rule just for Navion planes

Who it affects:

• Owners and operators of Navion series aircraft
• Aircraft maintenance engineers and organisations

Why it matters: The specific safety upgrade rule for Navion aircraft is no longer needed because a broader, general directive now covers shoulder harness requirements across all aircraft. This simplifies the rules by removing redundant, aircraft-specific regulations.
