AD/MCH/8 - Cabin Trim Head Shield - Installation - CANCELLED

What this does: This document officially cancels an old aviation safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive or AD) that applied to Aero Resources J2 Series Gyroplanes.

What the old rule required: Originally issued in 1975, the directive required owners to install an aluminium cover plate (heat shield) on the cabin 'A' frame. This was to protect the cabin lining from burning if the engine caught fire. Owners had to complete this by November 1975.

Why it's being cancelled: Since all affected aircraft were legally required to make this modification over 30 years ago, the work has already been done on every plane. The rule is now obsolete, so the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has formally cancelled it effective 27 August 2009.

Who this affects: Owners and operators of Aero Resources J2 Series Gyroplanes—though practically speaking, this is simply administrative housekeeping to remove a redundant rule from the books.
