AD/MCH/1 - Seat Restraint Installation - Modification - CANCELLED

This document cancels a specific old aviation safety rule. What it was: Originally issued in 1973, the rule required owners of certain small helicopters (Aero Resources J2 Series Gyroplanes) certified before 1967 to install upper torso restraints (shoulder harnesses) to protect occupants during crashes. What changed: As of 17 January 2008, this specific rule is officially cancelled. Why it matters: The safety requirement still exists, but is now covered by a broader, general rule (AD/GENERAL/74) that applies to all aircraft types. Owners of these vintage gyroplanes no longer need to follow this specific directive, but must comply with the general replacement rule instead.
