Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of helicopters fitted with Turbomeca Makila 1A, 1A1 or 1A2 engines that have the TU200A modified exhaust pipe to replace the exhaust-pipe ejector attachment tabs following Turbomeca Alert Service Bulletin A298 72 0148 Update 1. CASA issued it because cracks in those tabs could allow the ejector to detach and strike the main or tail rotor. Operators must complete the replacement at the next engine removal or by 30 June 2003; completing it removes the interim inspection obligation from AD/MAKILA/5.
