Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this is: An Airworthiness Directive (AD) — a mandatory safety order issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) under the Civil Aviation Regulations.

What it requires: Owners and operators of specific Mooney M20-B aeroplanes must modify the wing skin at a specific location ("Station 59.25") in accordance with Mooney Service Bulletin 20-100.

Who it affects: Only Mooney M20-B aircraft with serial numbers 1702 to 1763, except for serial numbers 1703, 1708, 1709, 1710, 1711, 1715, 1730, 1731, 1750, and 1759.

When: Immediately ("forthwith"). This means the aircraft cannot be flown until the modification is completed.

Why it matters: ADs address unsafe conditions in aircraft. This directive prevents potential structural failure by ensuring the wing skin is reinforced or repaired at a critical point identified by the manufacturer.
