Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this is: A mandatory safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive) that requires specific Mooney aircraft owners to modify their pilot seats.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Mooney M20J model aeroplanes with specific serial numbers (ranging from 24-0361 to 24-0435, with several gaps in the sequence).

What you must do: Modify the pilot's seat installation according to the manufacturer's instructions in Mooney Service Bulletin No. M20-211 (a technical notice from the plane maker).

When: You must complete this modification within 100 hours of flying time after 31 May 1978.

Why it matters: This ensures the pilot's seat is properly secured and safe during flight, preventing potential seat failure that could cause loss of aircraft control.
